SSS Class Revival Hunter Chapter 1-45:
I've reached the point in the Manhwa where they cleared the 20th floor of the tower, and the main character earned the title "King Of The Dead." For those unfamiliar with the story, it revolves around a mysterious tower that suddenly appears in the world. People who enter the tower can't return to their world, leading them to settle within its confines. Hunters are tasked with clearing each floor of the tower.
In my previous review, I mentioned how the main character obtains an S-rank skill, allowing him to copy the abilities of his killer upon death. However, this skill comes with a catch—he dies in the process. Initially, it seems impractical, but the main character's luck changes when he's slain by the top-ranked hunter, who possesses a skill enabling him to revive and go back in time by 24 hours. After inheriting this skill, the main character effectively gains immortality.
Using his newfound ability to rewind time upon death, the main character sets out to eliminate the top hunter before he acquires his resurrection skill. This decision stems from the top hunter's malevolent actions, including the unjust killing of innocent people. By preventing the top hunter from gaining immortality, the main character alters the course of events.
However, repercussions arise when the main character's death toll becomes visible to others, including the top hunter, who can see the number of lives taken. With over 4000 self-inflicted deaths, the main character's guilt is palpable. He then inherits the spirit of a blade master from another world, who guides him in honing his skills.
As the story progresses, the main character resolves to ascend the tower without succumbing to the darkness of his predecessors. His journey garners attention from various guild masters, who vie for his allegiance. Ultimately, he negotiates a unique arrangement where he joins multiple guilds simultaneously, holding authority akin to a guild master.
The narrative intensifies as they reach the 11th floor, where they must confront the demon lord ruling that domain. Amidst challenges and betrayals, the main character faces repeated deaths at the hands of the demon lord. However, each demise only strengthens him, leading to a climactic showdown where he vanquishes the demon lord and conquers the 20th floor, earning the title "King of the Dead."
While the story captivates with its unique premise and character development, it falls short in comparison to "Solo Leveling" in terms of action sequences. The constant time-traveling aspect detracts from the action, resulting in a heavier focus on storytelling. Despite this, the Manhwa holds promise and may improve in subsequent chapters. If you're seeking a good read, I recommend giving it a try, though it may not match the level of "Solo Leveling" just yet.
